Meet Elizabeth Harris, our Events Director at The Charter Oak! Elizabeth has been a part of our Napa Valley community for several years and has an extensive background in catering and wedding management.

  1. What does a typical day/week look like for you at The Charter Oak?

A typical day varies depending on our calendar, but usually starts with sales calls between The Charter Oak and potential clients for private events. I also help coordinate upcoming events, which requires working with our culinary team, meeting with vendors and the client to ensure the event runs smoothly. I also perform site visits for those looking to see our various event spaces in person.

  2. What is your favorite event memory over the course of your career?

There have been so many wonderful memories over the years, it's hard to pinpoint just one. Overall, I would say the relationships I have built with clients have created some of my favorite memories. I’ve learned that whether planning a wedding or corporate dinner, every client and event is unique. Over the years I have been exposed to a variety of personalities, cultures, and traditions with the common goal of bringing people together to share an experience. It has been rewarding to run into a past client and relive their favorite moments from the event.

  3. Tips and tricks for those looking to schedule a holiday event/party?

In terms of suggested tips and tricks for planning or scheduling a holiday party, first and foremost, plan ahead. Make sure to give yourself enough time to think about the various details to ensure a less stressful process. There are a lot of details that go into an event that are easy to overlook; guest list, menu and beverages, decor, entertainment, etc. It's always a nice touch to personalize a component of the event; whether it's with a craft cocktail, signature pieces of decor or a custom menu title. Lastly, remember to have fun while planning!

  4. Your favorite aspect of The Charter Oak event spaces?

I’ve been enjoying the shady canopy of the mulberry trees in The Courtyard during these recent warm autumn days. The property has played a large role in this community for quite some time, it has been lovely sharing it’s history with guests. Since I joined the team we have also been working on the final touches in the restored Sherry Building, and I’m eager to see the historic space celebrated.
